Thanks for checking out Follow My Pets’ blog. I thought I’d give you a little more information on just what is. With the social media giants getting more and more negative press, we decided to start our own, independent social media site devoted to pet lovers only. As our catch phrase says, it’s “All Pets, No Politics”, or anything else for that matter.

We are also striving to be your one-stop-shop where you can post pics and videos of all your pets, from horses to reptiles to birds to dogs and everything in between. To do this, our structure is a little different from the other social media sites out there.

We’ve created a two-tiered system:

1.       First, create a profile for you, the human handling the posting on the site (User).

2.       Then, under your profile, you create a profile for each of your pets.

a.       Right now, we have 19 species of pets listed with multiple breeds under each species and, of course, we are constantly updating our database.

b.       Please, please, please let us know if your pet is not on the list!

When you create your profiles, you have the option to allow those profiles to be public for other FMP users to see or you can create privacy settings. If you set a profile to private, other FMP users will have to request to “friend” your personal profile and/or “follow” your pet’s profile. You can either accept or decline the request.

On the app (iOS & Android) you have the option of seeing a global feed which shows posts from everyone with a public profile or seeing your individual feed which only shows posts from the Users and pets you follow.

Also, you don’t have to be a pet parent to be a part of FMP!  We want to share our precious pet moments with our friends and family.  They just have to create their personal user profile (all it takes is an email address), request to follow your pet(s), you accept and BINGO, Grammy, Aunt Sal, or your college roommate who moved across country can see your precious babies and enjoy their antics
